TaeKwang Power Holdings, subsidiary of Taekwang Industry has discussed on Namdinh Power Plant with Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of Vietnam.
Lee Seung Won (CEO of TaeKwang Power) had meeting with Nguyen Tan Dung in on 29th last month. In this meeting, Prime Minister has expressed their willingness to support in TaeKwang’s business in Vietnam.
TaeKwang is currently developing coal-fired power plant business and coal mine development business (estimated coal of 100million ton) in 남트랑박. The Namdinh coal-fired power plant, with a total investment of US$4.5billion is planned to be build northern Namdinh Province.
The plant is designed to have four turbine groups with a combined capacity of 2,400 MW. Once Phase 1 of Namdinh coal-fired power plant start commercial operation in 2018, it will operate next 25 years.
Friendly support from Vietnamese Government allows TaeKwang to accelerate its coal mine development business with its partners, Mine Reclamation Corporation, KyungDong and Korea Coal Corporation. In addition, this can also positively affect BTX plant business (benzene, toluene, xylene) by Huchems (affiliate of TaeKwang).
TaeKwang explained commitment and support from Vietnamese government was possible through reputation of Chairman Park, Yeon Cha that he has built over 20 years in Vietnam since Korea-Vietnam made diplomatic relations.
